Finally we left the fog! Little did we know a thunderstorm was on the way. Lake Huron PH Hoeft State Park, Mi
Nom Nom Nom. This cricket dropped from a branch right in front of our canoe. We saved him and in return he posed in front of the camera a bit. He really liked it where we released him. A sunny meadow with very meaty plants.
Its a nice shot. But came at a high price. I managed to catch several hundred chiggers while wandering off from the trail. I managed to get most of them of but still had a couple of dozen bites. My legs were itching like crazy for the next week.
Gasteracantha cancriformis I noticed this little fellow after I walked through his web. Sorry little guy.
Sneaky Sneaky! This bird would slowly sneak up on dragon flies. Then in an instant it would stretch out its body and snatch them. I saw it fetch 2 in 5 minutes or so. 100% success rate.

Deer Tick. A real pest here on Long Island. Stay away from these guys. They are carriers of lyme disease -- especially on LI. I generally like Arachnids, but not this one. They are all over the place on LI. During the first 15 min of my stroll I caught about 2 dozen crawling all over my pants. From then on I staid to the trails and away from the grass.
A meadow by shoreham beach. Looks inviting, but don't make a step into this tick infested grass.
